Something broke

Slow alt-tab or changed fullscreen behaviour: restores fullscreen optimizations to Windows defaults.

Win+G won't open or game recording stopped: turns Game Bar and Game DVR back on (Windows default).

If Xbox sign-in, Game Pass launches, achievements or cloud saves fail, resets the Xbox services to their Windows default (Manual).

Restores CS2's Steam launch options from the backup and reverts autoexec.cfg. Close Steam first.

If CS2 will not start, goes black or its video settings look wrong, restores the backup w0a took before it first wrote them. With no backup, nothing is done.

If windowed or borderless games flicker, go black, lose the cursor, show black in a stream or lose overlays, removes the 'optimizations for windowed games' value so Windows decides. With Auto HDR on, Windows keeps it on; before Windows 11 22H2 it is not read.

If the machine stutters while one program runs or a program misbehaves at every launch, removes w0a's priority rules and any tool's rule that starts a program at High priority, with its I/O priority. Lower rules from other tools stay.

Video flicker or 'Connect to a wireless display' gone: restores multi-plane overlay and Miracast to Windows defaults.

If some games no longer get HDR on an HDR display, removes the per-game Auto HDR override so games follow the global Windows setting again.

If a game should stop being forced onto the high-performance GPU, removes the “high performance” preference from every app (set by w0a or in Settings) and lets Windows decide again. Power-saving preferences you set stay.

If CS2 tears, ignores in-game VSync or the GPU idles at high clocks, removes the NVIDIA profile settings w0a wrote.

If a GPU stall never recovers (no picture, cursor or input) or brief black screens became long freezes, restores the GPU recovery defaults. Timeouts you raised for long GPU compute jobs are reset too.

Turns memory integrity (core isolation) back on. Use it if an anti-cheat refuses a match or Windows Security warns. Needs a restart; with an incompatible driver, Windows says so instead.

Slow internet, 0 network use in Task Manager or dead Wake-on-LAN: restores TCP, QoS and adapter settings to Windows defaults.

Sets DNS to automatic, flushes caches, resets the network stack (skipped for a hand-set IP) and turns DNS over HTTPS off. Older VPNs may need reinstalling.

If a core maxes out during downloads, speed stays far below your line or transfers stutter, resets the adapter's offload, interrupt moderation, Energy Efficient Ethernet, selective suspend and receive buffers to driver defaults.

If downloads stay below your line's speed, pages half-load (especially over PPPoE or VPN) or a game says 'port in use', removes values old TCP tuners left and resets the dynamic port range.

If store, sign-in and launcher pages wait seconds before loading, your connection may advertise IPv6 it cannot carry. Tests both; only if IPv4 alone works, tells Windows to try IPv4 first. Needs a restart; the “Xbox networking and IPv6” card undoes it.

If internet works but Xbox/Game Pass party chat, multiplayer or invites fail, or NAT shows 'Strict', restores the IP Helper service and Teredo/IPv6 settings to Windows defaults. Also clears the “try IPv4 first” setting from the “Pages hang for a few seconds” card.

If Store and Xbox sign-in and Windows Update fail while the browser works, removes hosts-file lines that block Microsoft sign-in, licensing and update addresses. Your own lines stay; the file is backed up first.

No sleep, screen always on or fast battery drain: switches to Balanced, deletes w0a's plans and restores Windows power defaults.

If Windows' Balanced plan is missing (the 'Power plan and battery' card then does nothing), rebuilds the built-in plans with powercfg. Asks first: this also deletes plans you or your vendor made.

If the PC still idles hot, fans never settle or the battery drains fast after the power-plan repair, resets core parking and min/max processor state in Windows' own plans.

If apps and boot got noticeably slower, restores Prefetch/SysMain memory preloading to the Windows default (enabled).

Slow boot after a shutdown: turns fast startup and hibernation back on (Windows default).

If startup programs (Steam, Discord, cloud sync) all launch at sign-in and the desktop comes late, makes Windows hold them back again.

If apps get force-closed at shutdown without the unsaved-work warning, restores shutdown timeouts and prompts to Windows defaults.

If old programs keep crashing, installers lose compatibility help or crash reports vanished, turns those Windows protections back on.

If RAM usage went up, services group strangely in Task Manager, or background jobs crawl, restores memory and scheduler settings to Windows defaults.

If the SSD slowed down over time or another tool turned TRIM off, restores TRIM to the Windows default (enabled).

If restore points fail or System Protection's Configure button does nothing, removes the restore policies and resets the shadow-copy services and task.

Start search lost web results or finds new files late: restores search policies and indexing to Windows defaults.

If Alt+Shift or shortcuts like 5x Shift stopped working, restores the Windows keyboard shortcut defaults.

If windows steal focus as you type or macro/overlay hotkeys drop out, restores the focus and input-hook timeouts to Windows defaults.

If notifications or the notification/calendar flyout stopped showing, sets the notification settings and policies back to the Windows default (on).

If transparency, animations or the accent colour are gone, or Personalization > Themes errors out, restores the Themes service and visual-effect settings to Windows defaults.

If the taskbar weather/Widgets board or Copilot/Recall disappeared, removes the blocking policies, restoring Windows defaults.

If the desktop or taskbar froze, icons look broken or thumbnails never show, restores the thumbnail default, rebuilds the icon cache and restarts Explorer. Thumbnails return as you open each folder.

If Start's 'Recommended' is empty or Personalization/Privacy toggles say 'managed by your organization', removes the suggestion policies and turns content settings back on. If a Spotlight policy was set, the lock screen rotates again.

Store apps stopped syncing or notify late: turns the background-app permission back on (Windows default).

If Task View history is empty or apps no longer offer to resume, removes the activity-history policies (recording on by default).

If the touch keyboard stops predicting or handwriting recognition gets worse, turns Windows' typing and pen learning back on.

If nothing happens when you plug in a USB stick or external drive, removes the AutoPlay policy and hands the decision back to Windows settings.

If the disk no longer clears itself or the Storage Sense setting appears greyed out, removes the policy that turned it off.

If your apps no longer come back after a restart and you want them to, removes the switch so Windows returns to reopening them at sign-in.

To remove the taskbar's right-click "End task" entry, deletes the developer setting.

No sound or missing devices: restarts the audio services and resets audio scheduling to the Windows default.

Pointer feels off, input stutters or touchpad dies with a mouse in: restores pointer acceleration, input queues and touchpad to Windows defaults.

If a held key repeats too fast or starts repeating too late, restores the Windows defaults: half a second before repeat, then the fastest rate. Only held keys are affected, not single presses.

If a key press or mouse movement sometimes does not register, restores the Windows queue sizes: 100 on the class drivers, no value at the HID layer. Needs a restart.

If every printer, even 'Microsoft Print to PDF', vanished or nothing prints, sets Print Spooler to Automatic and starts it.

If the Bluetooth toggle vanished or devices will not pair, resets the Bluetooth services to their Windows default (Manual).

If Spotify or other Store apps will not open or update, re-registers them, resets the Store cache and restores default auto-updates.

If Edge starts slowly or shows 'Managed by your organization', removes the Edge policies, restoring default behaviour.

If updates stopped or crawl, or Insider/Feedback Hub broke, restores the update and diagnostics services to Windows defaults.

If a Remote Assistance (msra) invitation cannot connect, turns asking for help back on, whatever turned it off. Quick Assist does not use this setting.

If a USB device drops out or wakes slowly, or to undo changes made on the USB Ports page, restores input devices' sleep and power permissions to Windows defaults.

If printing, Bluetooth, fingerprint sign-in or a troubleshooter stopped working, restores services an optimisation set to manual start to Windows defaults and starts the print spooler.

Turns back on the compatibility and telemetry tasks an optimisation turned off, with Windows' compatibility reporting.

If devices you plug in show as 'Unknown device' or get the wrong icon, lets Windows fetch device information from the manufacturer again.

If the pen button does nothing or the Windows Ink tools will not open, turns the pen workspace back on.

If Performance Monitor, WPR or another event-log based tool cannot collect data, puts the boot-time trace sessions back to the Windows default.

If Performance Monitor, typeperf, Get-Counter or another monitoring tool sees no performance counters, deletes the switch that turns them off.

If a device broke after a tool pinned its interrupts to certain cores (mouse dropping out, Code 10 in Device Manager), removes that pinning from every PCI device. Also undoes older w0a steering from the Latency Test page. Needs a restart.

To have other sounds dip during calls again, removes the ducking preference; the Windows default lowers them by 80%.

If the "get the latest updates as soon as they're available" toggle is stuck off, deletes its value.

To get drivers from Windows Update again, removes the ExcludeWUDriversInQualityUpdate policy.

If your RGB devices went dark or stopped following Windows after Dynamic Lighting was turned off, removes the switch so Windows drives them again.
